Funny Post About Poker Pimpin'

I was reading my buddies website today and came across a hilarious post that pokes fun at online poker players in general. It's called online poker pimping, and it describes the 10 steps you need to follow to become an online poker pimp. The whole thing is a joke, but it is extremely funny if you're a poker player because you can relate to everything he's saying.

For example, in one section of the post (Step 8) he talks about getting bitches. The funniest part about the getting bitches is when he states that if you really want to be a poker baller, you HAVE to get a massage at the table - it's a necessity. I'm sure we've all seen the faggots getting massages at the table after they win a $30 pot...

Hellmuth makes another Outrageous Entrance

We all remember Phil showing up to the 2007 WSOP in a NASCAR uniform after crashing his race car a few days before. This year was no different as Phil showed up dressed as an 11 star General for his Day 1d start.

He showed up to the Rio in the back of an Army Jeep and was accompanied by poker pro Mark Kroon as well as eleven ladies all dressed in army apparel. Each lady represented one of Phil's bracelets that he won in years prior. Hellmuth has always tried to stand out and I would say he definitely accomplished his task again this year.

Hellmuth's Day 1d field was the largest of the 4 Day 1 fields and his field of over 2,000 players helped spark a new record for entrants which surpassed last years number of 6,358. This years field was a little over 6,840 and included some well-known professional athletes such as Chuck Liddell, golfer Paul Azinger, and former professional MLB pitcher David Wells.

The WSOP has shown to be an event where all types of men and women can have fun while possibly playing with a professional. Chuck Liddell, for instance, was matched up across the table from Mr. Phil Hellmuth. I'm sure Phil wasn't too harsh on Chuck, but once again we are never sure of what Phil is capable of doing.

Phil's field was not filled with just athletes as some top of the line pros were also in the hunt such as Doyle Brunson, Jerry Yang, and Michael Mizrachi. The 2008 WSOP is sure to be another thrilling and exciting tournament.

Trip Report on TurningStone

Along with 3 other friends I recently visited Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY for nearly a week to play poker while the Heartland Poker Tour also was visiting Turning Stone. The larger buy-in tournaments were earlier in the week building up to the main event which was a buy-in just over $1600. One of my friends was staked in each of the events, a $300, $700, and the main event, but did not run well throughout the course of the trip. I decided that if the cash tables went well I would enter the $220 deep stack turbo tournament on Sunday, the last day of the trip.

As soon as we arrived my friends and I decided to hit up the cash tables for sessions usually lasting for around 3 or 4 hours, then party at night depending on our outcomes. Sometimes we decided to play up until 5 or 6 in the morning depending on how well the sessions were going. The first couple days didn't go as well as expected but the trip turned around quickly as I had a a few very valuable sessions where I bought into the $200 max $2/$3 blinds for $200 then left with around $600 or more. After doing this a couple times I decided that I would play the $220 deep stack tournament on Sunday.

But even before this the trip had many other high points such as the Shenendoah Golf Course that I decided to play, along with the drinking which obviously came at night and even often during the day, I was just disappointed in the lack of beer, liquor doesn't settle too well in the body for around 5 days straight. The golf course was amazing and I shot an 86 which was a fairly decent round for the difficulty of this particular course.

The $220 deep stack started off fairly well with nearly 300 people entered in the tournament along with two other friends of mine. One of my friends was elminated extremely quickly in a 60,000 pot when the blinds were 75/150, which would have set him extremely far ahead of the competition. The other lasted deeper into the tournament but was knocked out by A 10 when he held AQ. I played very well in the beginning and the major hands were as follows.

I first doubled up as a player raised preflop when I held 10 10. He raised about 4 or 5 times the big blind, and flop came all unders 8 7 5, he then decided to just push all-in on the flop and I called instantly showing him my tens, and he flipped up K J. My tens held and I doubled.

Further in I was all in pre-flop with QQ to AJ which very surprisingly held to build my stack well over 100k. I then later woke up to aces in the big blind after a short stack pushed all in pre-flop with 99. I won this pot as an ace flopped which built me up to nearly 200k in chips.

The final two tables started to become crazier as blinds rose every 20 minutes. I was never truly in a shove/fold position, but came very close as blinds rose to around 30,000/60,000 with 5,000 as antes. I played the short stack well building up to around 600,000 into the final table. My final hand was with 10 10 as I raised pre to around 150,000 on the button, the big blind reraised all-in and I was nearly pot committed with less than 300,000 left. I actually almost folded, but decided to call and he showed me his Jacks, which held.

But overall the entire trip was very profittable and turned out to be a blast. We decided we will probably be returning August for the Continental Poker Tour that will run through Turning Stone, which should bring even more people into the casino that the Heartland.

How to Play Craps

Many people view craps as an intimidating game that only the experienced players within casinos enjoy. However there are a number of different bets and strategies that make Craps simple enough even for the most inexperienced players. Follow these basic guidelines and systems to make other people in the online casino world jealous that you have a full understanding of the concepts of and odds of exciting game of craps.

How to Play

The game begins with a "come out" roll or the first roll in which one player rolls the dice to determine a "point number." Prior to this come out roll other players can make a pass bet in which they are hoping that a 7 or 11 will be rolled, or they are hoping that which ever point number is rolled, will be rolled again before a 7. Point numbers include 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10. So the first number will establish this point number, but if a 2, 3 or 12 is rolled on the come out roll your bet is lost.

The Don't Pass bet is the opposite of a Pass bet in which players are hoping for a 2, 3 or 12 on the come out roll, and also hoping that a 7 will be rolled prior to the point number on the next consecutive rolls. So each side of the board can be played depending on which the player wishes.

Come and Don't Come

These bets are established for players that have joined the game after the come out roll has been made. Because the Pass and Don't Pass bets can only be made prior to this roll, the new player has the opportunity to make a Come bet which like the Pass bet is made hoping the point number will be rolled before a 7, or the Don't Come bet in which the player hopes the 7 will be rolled prior to the point number.

Increased Odds Bets

Many other bets are possible within Casino Craps Gambling Online play including General bets Around 7s and Nest Roll bets. These bets increase the players odds because each individual category is less likely to hit but will pay out larger. Some of the highest betting odds include snake eyes that pays out 30 to 1, or a 12 Nest bet that also pays out 30 to 1 odds.

Different Casino Software Providers

I was searching around today for a new casino to check out, and was reading a lot about the different software providers. Basically, there are three major players when it comes to casino software development: Real Time Gaming, Microgaming, and Playtech.

These three guys make up almost every single online casino, and they all are pretty good options when it comes to picking a casino. After some research I decided I'd try out one of the RTG online casinos. I picked RTG because they have been around for over 10 years, and were recommended by a bunch of my friends who play at online casinos.

After looking around, I decided to give Rushmore Casino a try, because they are one of the most highly rated RTG casinos. Once I signed up, I was offered a $400 bonus on my first deposit. I only deposited $100 because I wanted to try the site out first before playing for a lot of money. After my deposit cleared, I headed over to the Roulette tables to play. I lost a little of the money, but didn't play for very long because I had an appointment.

I'll write more about Rushmore later, because I've gotta run now. Later!

My Irving Trip

Irving Casino is located near Gowanda, New York and has about 8 poker tables, 2 or 3 of which actually have live games running. I decided to make a trip up on Saturday morning which was probably a bad idea in the first place as I did not get much sleep the night before. I went with a few friends and we decided to play in the $25+2 tournament that included $5 re-buys, add-ons, and a dealer bonus. This tournament was completely NUTS and you only started with 500 chips. Re-buys were taking place every single second of the first two blind levels, but still it was an all-in or fold type of tournament. After putting about $55 to $60 into that tournament I decided enough was enough and I headed to the cash table.

I only bought in for $75 which was probably my first mistake as $100 was the max. I played very tight at first just hoping to double up so I could play more hands then. After 1 hour or so I pick up JS 10C under the gun and I limped for $2. They man to my left made it $10 and 4 other called behind him. At this point I am almost priced in to call so I did just that (knowing I was clearly behind at this point). I hit the miracle flop of JC 10D 3S. I was not about to slow play this so I led out for $20 and the man to my left put me all-in (I had about $40 behind me). It folds back to me and I immediately call knowing I have the best hand. As I suspected he had QS QC and I felt pretty good with the way I had played the hand. The dealer flips the turn card and bang QD on the turn, making my hand DEAD to the river. There is nothing I can due in that situation except fold pre-flop, but I felt like it was time and I only had to put $12 into a $40 to $50 pot.

I proceeded to re-buy for another $75 once again. This round I was playing more aggressive, but it seemed things were just not going my way. I would pick up AK, raise to $12, get one caller, have an all under card flop, I would lead out, and get re-raised every time. After awhile of this I tried making a stand with K9 on the button and made it $8. The BB re-raised to $16 and I just called. The flop came K96 (prefect). The BB leads for $20 and I obviously put in my last $44 and make the call. He had AK so once again I was feeling quite alright in this situation. The dealer flips the turn card over and it was a Q. So now I am yelling "NO Ace, No Queen" and the river brings the good ole Q.

Basically I am not mad with my play just frustrated that more things did not go my way which seems to be the general feeling by most players. To play at the Best Online Casino try out BodogCasino.com
